Rekindling the flame: A new audio skit

It’s been a long time coming.

After an age, I’ve finally finished a new student-based audio skit (those little nuggets that gathered social media momentum a couple of years ago).

Honestly, though, it was recorded more than a year ago and I’ve only recently had the software to make the necessary cuts and additions. I loved the process.

The basic idea: What happens when your average traffic report is an outlook on the varsity academic situation?

Check it out:

I’m toying with the idea of making a school version (replacing university disciplines with broader primary/secondary education subjects).

Meanwhile, this year’s National Arts Festival is upon us and I’m caught in a whirlwind of rehearsals and general preparations.

I’ll be featuring in Rhodes University’s student production Void, some improv comedy alongside Nat Caf performers as well as opening for my good friend Seneliso ‘Sne’ Dladla for the return of his award-winning stand-up comedy show The Joke’s On You.

Sne has had a fantastic year. From scooping up a Standard Bank Ovation Award at last year’s festival, he has since worked hard to build his profile on the Cape Town comedy circuit. A few months ago, he was also awarded the Fleur du Cap Award for best actor in a musical.

Add to that a SA Film and TV Award as part of the team at political satire show ZANews and you have all the components of a genuine talent on the South African entertainment scene.

Working with him will be loads of fun and the shows will bring their own challenges. Let’s do this!

Stay tuned…
