A massive congratulations to Kline Smith and the entire cast of Mob Feel!
The piece, submitted to this year’s National Arts Festival by the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, was announced as the recipient of the Most Promising Writer and Best Director Award.

This was in the student theatre category.
I’m really bleak that I didn’t get to catch their show and I’d heard so many positives about the piece.
Based on legendary 50’s writer Can Themba‘s Mob Passion, it was written and directed by Kline Smith.
The award is sure to open doors for Smith and I’m sure will make peeps take notice of his immense capabilities.
I only met the cast for fleeting moments but I’m really proud and inspired by their level of work.

Look out for Mob Feel at the Hexagon Theatre in Pietermaritzburg on the 26th and 27th of July.
The University of Cape Town‘s drama department also scooped top honours as their production The Homeless Orchestra walked away with the Best Student Production Award.
Directed by Joanna Evans, their devised piece tells a slickly-delivered tale of homeless folk whose world turns upside down when their car runs over a conductor.
Phenomenal stuff.
On a more personal front, I’ll be keeping you in the loop with what’s been happening lately.
Stay tuned…
